Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen

Everyone knows what a critical, cheap bastard I am when it comes to restaurants. We tried the new Tex-Med fusion place at Firewheel, Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen.
The have a beautiful new interior, cushy booths, Mediterranean tile and marble accents. We sat on the well shaded, dog friendly patio equipped with cooling fans. It wasn’t hot enough to need the fans but they offered to turn one on if we would like.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It is exactly what you expect when you dine out. We started with four appetizers for $14. I highly recommend the Atomic Dip, a yogurt dip with chilis which had the appropriate amount of heat for the name. My wife really loved the Charred Salsa, made with just enough jalepeno to give it heat and has a wonderful sweetness from the 1015 onions. I love Manchego cheese so chose this as a third option, marinated in olive oil with Rosemary and kalamata olives, a pairing that had oddly not occurred to me before. Finally we had the hummus, because if you can’t make a good hummus you aren’t really a Mediterranean restaurant. I would describe the hummus as good basic hummus, not over seasoned and without an excess of olive oil.
As our main dish we chose the Mediterranean Salmon. The waiter informed us the salmon is Scottish wild-caught and we would taste the difference. The salmon was skinned and was a bit dry top and bottom but cooked through, flaked perfectly and tasted fresh. The slight dryness was overcome by a well balanced lemon-caper cream, not overly tangy and not broken from too much heat. The salmon is accompanied by perfectly grilled asparagusand we opted for rice pilaf instead of couscous.
In all our food was well prepared, served hot, and tasted fresh. On Monday the special is two free Mezzes (appetizers) with an entree, they also have a Sunday brunch buffet which we will certainly be back for. We look forward to trying the Fried Goat Cheese among other things.
Exceptional service, excellent food, and a good value, I give it five stars across the board.
